Thornton Laboratories, Inc., founded in 1922, is an independent laboratory offering quality chemical analyses and field sampling services. With over 80 years of providing a variety of testing and sampling services in the Tampa area, we have extensive experience and capability to provide reliable data and convenient services.

Our mission is to provide accurate and rapid analytical data for all our clients

Services Provided Include:

Potable

Non-Potable, Solid & Chemical Materials

We participate in the annual DEP required DMR-QA studies and in Performance Testing programs for SDWA, CWA, Non-Potable Water, Solid & Chemical Materials.

Blanks, standards, duplicates, spikes, and matrix spikes are an integral part of our quality assurance program. Samples are given a unique lab identification number and the LIMS computer system tracks and records all aspects of the sample's progress in the lab.

The laboratory is equipped with sophisticated scientific equipment and fully staffed with over 35 full time, degreed chemists, microbiologists, trained lab analysts and field personnel. Supervisory and clerical staffs provide necessary support function. We have over 15,000 square feet of laboratory divided into fourteen separate work zones, providing ample chemical and equipment space, including 500 square feet of refrigerated storage space.

Food Analysis

Quality Assurance:

The analysts utilize the methods of the "Official Methods of Analysis" developed by the Association of Official Analytical Chemists, the FDA's "Bacteriological nalytical Manual", "Standard Methods for Examination of Dairy Products" from the American Public Health Association and the "Compendium of Methods for the Microbiological Examination of Foods" from the American Public Health Association. As members of the Institute of Food Technologists, the Florida Association of Food Protections, the Florida Environmental Health Association and the Association of Official Analytical Chemists, we are familiar with their methods and guidelines. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services includes Thornton Laboratories on their approved list of food laboratories.
