With consistent growth since its founding in Tampa, Florida in 1922, Thornton Laboratories, Inc. has continuously expanded its laboratory capabilities and services. Continued involvement in new techniques and the latest in scientific equipment have enabled Thornton to be a leader in meeting the demands of a rapidly advancing community with serious environmental concerns. In 1972, the company entered the international trade market and, today, through Thornton International Services Division, brings surveying and inspection services to an international clientele on a worldwide basis.
Facilities and Equipment
The company is headquartered in a 15,000 square foot, two-story building in Tampa, Florida. The laboratories are divided into fourteen separate work zones with more than ample chemical and storage areas, including 500 square feet or refrigerated storage space.
The laboratories are equipped with modern, comprehensive, advanced analytical instrumentation, and expertise in classical wet chemical techniques is maintained.
Quality Control
Accuracy is assured with strict in-house quality control programs as well as by performance monitoring through participation in industry and government sponsored performance evaluation studies.
Personnel
Thornton Laboratories' staff includes over thirty-five experienced professional chemists, technicians, microbiologists, surveyors and samplers, as well as a full supporting administrative staff. A computerized Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) provides sample tracking, data storage and retrieval.
Consulting
Through its expertise and experience in sampling and analysis, Thornton provides professional counsel in problems relating to quality assurance, method evaluations and sampling protocols. Investigations of matters involving government regulations or trade organizations are strictly unbiased.
